Sponsored Projects

Throughout its history, The Arts Company provided fiscal sponsorship and other services for a number of projects. Here are some of them:

Sabai Sabai Sesame 2003-2005

From the introduction to the Sabai Sabai Sesame pilot

The Arts Company helped raise funds and provided fiscal services for production of the pilot episode of Sabai Sabai Sesame (Hello Hello Sesame), the Khmer-language (Cambodian) version of the popular PBS children's series Sesame Street. The pilot, produced by Alan Morgan for Educational Television Cambodia (ETC) was based on Season 2, Episode 8, "Cooperation," of the American Sesame Street and contained a live-action sequence shot in Cambodia as well as the familiar animated Sesame Street Muppets dubbed in Khmer. Later, a full season was produced by ETC under the auspices of the World Education Foundation with funding from the US Embassy in Phnom Penh. The 12-episode series premiered on Apsara TV-11 in Phnom Penh on December 13, 2005. According to ETC's CEO Peter Wilson, Sabai Sabai Sesame was the first television show for children shown in Cambodia and spurred the creation of subsequent children's television in the country.
