Born 1966 in Grozny. Lives in Moscow.

Education at Institute of Building Engineering in Moscow.

Began painting in 1978, performance work in 1984, making films in 1986.

Paintings included in two international exhibitions in Budapest, 1986 and 1987.

Igor Aleinikov|1962-1994

1990 bio

Born 1962 in Grozny. Lives in Moscow.

Education at MIFI (Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute).

In 1980, began making 8mm and 16mm films.

Founder (1985) and editor-in-chief of Cine Fantom film journal, 1985 - present.

In 1988, began teaching at the Individual Direction Studios of the Free University in Moscow and Leningrad.

In 1989, worked at the Mosfilm studio in the division, "Debut."

2023 note:

Igor Aleinikov died in an Aeroflot airplane crash with his wife Vera in 1994.

Evgenij Kondratiev | 1990 bio

Born 1959 in Chernogorsk.

 

Attended school.

 

Served in the Soviet Army for six months.

 

Has been in Leningrad since 1980, though still spends several months each year in Chernogorsk.

 

Works with photography and painting as well as film.

 

From 1984-1987, participated in the group MZHALALAFILM.

 

Participated in the international film festivals lnterfilm '88 (Berlin) and Frankfurt Film Show '89. Open screenings during Arsenal '88 and the XVI International Moscow Film Festival (1989).

Yuris Lesnik | 1990 bio

Born 1957 in Riga. Lives in Leningrad.

 

Participated in exhibitions of the Comradeship of Experimental Fine Arts, Leningrad, 1981-1986.

 

In 1989, participated in the exhibition Gold-Silver in Genoa, Paris and Leningrad.

Born 1961 in Leningrad. Lives in Leningrad.

Worked in a factory and was a student at the Polytechnical Institute.

Since 1982 had been working with staged photography and painting.

Participated in the exhibitions of the Comradeship of Experimental Fine Arts, Leningrad. Exhibitions in Sweden, France and Italy.

Since 1984 has been making necrorealistic film and is the leader of the group MZHALALAFILM.

From 1988 to 1989, worked at the Lenfilm studio as an intern and first-time director. 

Participant in the international film festivals Interfilm '88 (Berlin) and Frankfurt Film Show '89. Open screenings during Arsenal '88 (Riga) and XVI International Moscow Film Festival (1989).

Boris Yukhananov | 1957-2025

Born 1957 in Moscow. Lived in Moscow.

 

Studied in the acting division of the Voronezh Arts Institute, 1975-1979.

 

Served in the ranks of the Soviet Army 1979-1981. While in the army, wrote his novel Quick Jottings of a Sentimental Soldier.

 

From 1981-1986: Attended school of theater direction at GITIS. Studio work with A. Efros and A. Vasiliev. Audited classes at VGIK (film institute). Screenplay writer for VGIK and Odessa Film Studio.

 

In 1984, created Theater Theater group of actors and artists from Moscow and Leningrad. ("This is the first independent theater group in the USSR to work on the principles of multimedia." - Boris Yukhananov). 

In 1986, created World Theater Theater Video.

 

Worked as a director in the School of the Studio of Dramatic Art of A. Vasiliev from 1987-1989.

 

Created the play The Observer in 1988 (premiere in West Berlin).

 

Currently working on the play Octavia (Moscow) and on the ballet Shagren (Maly Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Leningrad).
